What is health???
Health is defined: The general condition of the body or mind with reference to soundness and vigor:
Soundness and vigor!
Sounds great! How many people exemplify this definition of health? Too few.
I can give you some sure ways to fail:
- Focus on one aspect of health and treat symptoms instead of the causes.
- Set your goals too high.
- Follow the latest fad.
Health is also defined: The overall condition of an organism at a given time.
Now, here is a key! Not only your body, but your mind, emotions, your very essence make up the whole person that you are. All of these play key roles in the soundness and vigor we want in our lives.
- Hydration- Do you pay attention to hydration?
- Exercise/ fitness- How do you feel about your level of exercise?
- Diet/ food- Are you eating and drinking foods that meet your nourishment needs?
- Relationships- Can you talk to friends and family when you need an ear? How is your home life? Your spiritual relationship? Do you have people who support your life purpose?
- Unhealthy habits- Can be many different things in your life. From Smoking to staying up too late to time management to fast food. You know what it is that you need to change.
- Stress Management- Are you productively managing your stress, ignoring it, hoping it will go away, or in total denial that you have any stress?
- Nutritional products- Include vitamins, herbs, teas etc. that you feel you should be implementing into your life.
- Fun & Recreation- This area is completely overlooked by some and way too focused on by others. Remember, it’s all about balance.
How well we’re doing in each section will change from week to week based on our personal growth, as well as outside factors. It’s the sum total of these diverse areas that paints a picture of our level of health (or the lack thereof).
