Raw Food Basics <~click here

Let’s get back to basics with this raw food craze.

Raw food– meaning fruits, vegetables, sprouts, seeds, nuts and primarily focusing on fresh foods.

Uncooked– to keep the enzymes in tact so that our bodies can actually benefit from the nutrients in these amazing powerhouse packages from nature.

Breaking News!

  • Contrary to popular belief: Raw food has NOT just recently been discovered…  It’s been here on Earth and readily available to us since the world began.  We are just rediscovering it and it’s wonderful benefits…
  • The main purpose for increasing the raw food intake in your diet is to give you more nutrients, which gives you more energy, greater vitality and allows your body to use it’s resources for healing.
  • There is no rule that says in order to eat raw food, you can’t eat anything else.
  • Your body is designed to eat foods in their whole food form.

Carol at DeepNourishment.com says it so well:

“Today, many people eat processed or fractionated foods that are, in truth, only parts of food and are often combinations of things that don’t even exist in nature.  These products are split off from the whole. They are split off from nature itself.

Calling fractionated foods “food” is like calling petals that have been plucked from a flower “a flower.”   They are not.  They may remind us of a flower, but they do not have the beauty and vitality that a flower has. They are no longer alive.

Whole foods, on the other hand, are alive and complete.”

Also– when you cook food– somewhere over 105 degrees, the extreme temperatures begin to kill off enzymes.  This makes your body work very hard to digest what you’ve eaten and takes from the stores of energy that would otherwise be spent rejuvenating your immune system or, perhaps even fighting off the swine flu virus.

There are many people with many different ideas about the exact science of raw-foodie-ism.

The most effective way that I’ve found to begin is to eat only sweet fruits for breakfast.  There are a number of reasons why this is beneficial.  For one, when you wake up in the morning, your body cycle is in the cleanse mode.  This cleansing mode will stop as soon as you put something into your tummy that requires a lot of energy to digest.  Eating a breakfast of simple fruits allows this cleansing process to continue for longer and optimizes your detoxification and healing process, not to mention the fiber in fruit is wonderful for moving things through your system.

Following this one step alone in the morning will begin to give you more energy!  And who doesn’t want more energy?!

I find, too, that once you begin to eat more raw, you find it tastes so good! It’s an adjustment, but one that I think you’ll grow to be very happy with.
