Back to Health Basics: First Things First…

In this series, we will be looking at the basic steps to moving toward health.  One step at a time…

2011.  Did you make resolutions this year?

I find that setting new goal for the upcoming year, month, week, day or even hour to be incredibly helpful.  Just the act of writing a goal down on paper or chalkboard is motivating enough to help make the difference…

I agree with Bob Harper of Biggest Loser when he says that the #1 tip to looking and feeling better is to stay hydrated! Figuring out how much water you should be drinking is NOT rocket science:

YOUR WEIGHT
divided in HALF
=ounces per day you need to maintain excellent hydration.

In order to help me keep a general idea of how I’m doing, I use a glass that I know has 16 ounces and then just figure how many of them I need to drink.  A reusable water bottle would work as well and is what I prefer if I’m out running errands.

Happy Hydrating!

*If you haven’t been drinking much water, try adding one extra glass today, then another extra glass tomorrow, until you’ve reached your hydration goal on a daily basis.

**I’ve already had 5 glasses today…   I  can feel a big difference- Wow!

***Never drink more than 33.8oz at one sitting (about a liter)

Thanks for the hydration calculation — I didn’t realize I needed so much water in a day!
